But before they are dispatched, a woman named Kagero, whose main job is food tasting, insists that she joins the koga ninja team in their investigation. Later that night, the Mochizuki clan's team of koga ninjas, led by Hanza, make preparations to investigate the mystery concerning the epidemic. Little did the villagers know that the dead woman was being manipulated by one of the villains of the film. A dying woman journeys her way to a populated village uncontaminated by the plague, and in her last words, she says that “A great evil force is coming.” before she finally collapses and drops to the ground dead.
Several years later, the story cuts to a village which is plagued by an epidemic that has killed all of its inhabitants. But Jubei beats them senseless, and continues his journey. As he crosses a bridge in the film's opening scene, he is confronted by a clan of rival ninjas who want to collect a bounty placed on his head. Synopsis: Taking place in the feudal era of Japan's middle ages, the story centers around Jubei Kibagami, a wandering vagabond ninja warrior who is constantly drifting around the country.
